Jewellery Objects for a Contemporary Dining Culture
Description
In my work titled “dig in - Jewellery Objects for a Contemporary Dining Culture”, I created objects made of silver that oscillate between a jewellery object and an eating utensil, and allow both aspects to enter into a dialogue. The perception and handling of my objects by the wearer was my main concern. I want to invite viewers of “dig in - Jewellery Objects for a Contemporary Dining Culture” to become active themselves in the design of eating utensils and to consider which form and which type of eating utensil is best suited to their needs. I was also fascinated by the question of how and to which extent eating habits and table culture has evolved within Europe over the last centuries and how that could be reflected in my designs. The production of the objects was a central focus of my work, as I wanted to gain insights into the craft of gold and silversmithing, which was still new to me at the conclusion of my studies.
