Die Rolle der Gestaltung im Kontext der Wohnungslosigkeit
Proactive Design in the Field of Social Services
Description
A permanent place to sleep can provide stability, comfort, privacy and well-being. As a result, homeless people face significant challenges on a daily basis. Although there are systems in place to mitigate some of these problems, the question remains “to what extent can design have a positive impact on homeless people and the systems that support them? Often the response is reactive, with people sleeping on the streets or in temporary accommodation. However, a proactive approach is rarely found.
This project examines the structural foundations of government and social support for homeless people. The focus is on the postal services offered to people without a home address. Research and participant observation in Weimar and Leipzig form the basis for the development of a solution for opening and reading one’s own mail within an existing system
