Description
Over the past centuries, death has increasingly faded from the public eye, and conscious engagement with one’s own mortality has disappeared. New developments, such as the decline of religious rituals and new lifestyles, highlight the importance of addressing the topic of death. Future generations will need to redefine it.
As part of a thesis, the box Der Wurm in unserem Herzen (‘The Worm in Our Heart’) was created to offer impulses for exploring one’s own mortality. Using various tools and instructions, it encourages conscious reflection and dialogue.
The core element is a card set with 60 cards on the topics ‘Knowledge’, ‘Pause’, ‘Preparation’, and ‘Communication’. The box is supplemented by a notebook, a set of dice engraved with terms, and an accompanying booklet. A website and social media channel bring the topic further into everyday life.
