Description

In the former cloister wing of the monastery, a retreat is being created that inscribes itself into the historical structure as parasitic architecture, breathing new life into it. A grating structure guided above the existing building opens up the building along a staged path and makes its history spatially tangible. Through a deliberately placed joint, the historical substance remains largely untouched, while a dialogue between old and new is created. Condensations of the structure form serving spaces, whose monochrome sage-green interior emphasizes the contrast of materiality, construction, and layers of time.

The ground floor serves as a social center with areas for exchange, workshops, and communal dining. Located on the upper floors are flexibly usable rooms of retreat for meditation and reflection.
