Description
DECAYED – ‘What emerges when something decays?’ is a speculative, holistic concept for an alternative design approach. From a post-capitalist perspective, we explore how a more collaborative interaction between different species might look in the future.
Using the example of a shoe, a biological decomposition process involving mycelium is applied, which not only serves to compost the material used, but also actively influences design and production.
This experimental setup speculates on how microorganisms can be understood as co-creators in the design process.
In the ‘shoe store of the future’ we have designed, this collaborative process is situated, visualised, and appreciated.
This vision outlines the interface between humans and microorganisms, united by the shared goal of post-capitalist development.
