Description
Dark Oxygen is an experimental knitwear collection I developed during my fashion master’s at Universität der Künste Berlin. The project is inspired by the groundbreaking scientific discovery of Dark Oxygen: oxygen produced without photosynthesis. My collection is set in a video-game in which scientists and divers are sent to the deep sea to harvestdark oxygen and secure humanity’s survival. My knitted outfits equip the players by providing protection, disguise, and adaptation against the harsh conditions of the deep sea. This storyline forms the framework for an immersive world for my master’s collection. A safe space where the rules of the conventional fashion industry do not apply. With my sculptural knitwear, I question beauty standards and body ideals, while combining digital technology with traditional craftsmanship. Knitting becomes a world generator: here, fashion is more than clothes.
