Massive nutrient inputs and climate-related warming lead to eutrophication and toxic blue-green algae blooms in summer, causing inland waters to collapse ecologically and recreational spaces to disappear. Against this background, the Cyanocaptor was created: a specialized system for water restoration that combines the relief of aquatic ecosystems with the recovery of valuable resources.
The Cyanocaptor is based on a modular system whose segments can be flexibly connected to any desired total length via a bayonet coupling. The core is a flexible three-pipe composite (ballast and buoyancy chambers) with an outer spiral that both compensates for waves and keeps debris away. The algae mats are sucked off over the entire length via a water pump connected to the end of the barrier.
The design consistently closes the loop: The product consists of exactly the algae-based bioplastics whose raw material it harvests.
