Description
CAVEO is more than a modular furniture concept – it is a multifunctional protection system that subtly integrates private flood protection into everyday life. CAVEO can be flexibly expanded and adapts to individual living needs as well as extreme weather situations. Usable as stylish seating in everyday life, the individual elements reveal their hidden function in an emergency: the cushions contain sandbags that are quickly accessible via zippers. The screen-printed panels of the frame can be repurposed into protective barriers for weak points on the house. In the tension between everyday life and crisis, a concept is to be created that promotes preventive behavior and can provide concrete help in acute situations. The work sees itself as a creative impulse for a design-based resilience strategy: it aims to show how design can contribute to actively and proactively shaping everyday life with climate-related risks.
