Description

Many young people live a nomadic life involuntarily — due to rent increases, housing shortages, or personal reasons. Frequent moves make it difficult to truly settle in. Furniture is often impractical: bulky, heavy, and time-consuming to assemble and disassemble.

I wanted to design a furniture system that is easy to transport, space-saving, gives a familiar structure to a new space, and enables quick settling-in. This led to ‘Carrie, Liv + Co.’, a furniture system consisting of four modules.

‘Carrie’ is a modular shelf made of stackable cubes, which also serve as transport boxes.
‘Liv’ is a table with an integrated handle and detachable legs, secured with a tension strap.
‘Sid’ consists of four chairs with fabric backrests — disassemblable and portable as a package.
‘Abed’ is a bed frame made of two halves, which can store ‘Liv’ and ‘Sid’ inside.

All pieces can be nested into one another; the total package height is 11 cm and, including six ‘Carrie’ boxes, fits into a station wagon.
