BUNKA is a five-piece tableware series that was designed based on a menu of five dishes of Japanese cuisine. In cooperation with the restaurant Naniwa Sushi & More in Düsseldorf, a menu was developed with the theme of miso, a fermented soy paste, which was to be presented in different variations. The design refers to the restaurant, the food, the guest and the intercultural exchange between German and Japanese culture. The focus was especially on the influences and developments of a Japanese restaurant after several years in Germany and how it differs from the traditional presentation. BUNKA should take up and embody this interface of the two cultures.
