Anything Besides a Bed

Description

‘Anything Besides a Bed’ is a collection of six works. The starting point of the project is the bed as an object and a piece of furniture, but also as a place and a context. The six objects deal with different aspects: Sleeping habits, darkness and artificial light, reading in and talking about the bed, its technological and digital environment, as well as privacy, intimacy and publicity. Each object is created by observing, mixing, exchanging and combining its cultural-historical, archaeological, philosophical or social contexts, but at the same time the contexts and formal aspects of the objects found around a bed also play an important role. The result is six objects that do not simply reflect research and analysis, but also offer food for thought through certain interventions in their form and function as usable furniture or technical devices.
