Description

We humans have been using buttons for decades. We use them to control machines and processes in our environment, and thus influence our environment. But this process is rather one-dimensional. You push an object from top to bottom, triggering consequences that may not even be apparent at the time you push it. But what about a dialogue that takes place at eye level? What role do we and the buttons in our environment play in an interaction based on the desire for control, participation, pressure and being pressed? And what role does it play that we see buttons as dead, technical things rather than as living beings with equal rights? The resulting installation invites us to rethink the boundary between life and technology, and to question how we interact with the technological devices that surround us. Do we simply use these devices as an outlet to deal with the pressures that weigh on us?
