Description

‘ALL PARTS APART’ outlines a new way for designers to share their designs and for users to have these objects produced on demand by local manufacturers. The approach of processing sheet metal objects using standardised and globally available laser cutting and bending processes ensures democratic prices, easy assembly and low environmental impact. The project simplifies the manufacturing process, supports sustainable and local production, and promotes collaboration and transparency. By converting physical objects into digital data, it enables global access to designs with local production, minimising transport and storage costs. A chair serves as a proof of concept, demonstrating the structural, functional, ergonomic and aesthetic potential of the system. The flatpack chair can be assembled from a small number of components that are highly automated but locally manufactured using standardised parts.
