Description

‘Bethink’ is a mobile retreat that uses tactile elements to help children calm down in stressful situations. It is both a product and a statement. It encourages reflection and acceptance. In such a complex context, it is difficult to prevent problems from arising. Stress and conflict are as much a part of development as joy and affection. The aim is not to shield children from these problems. Rather, children should learn that it is okay to ask for help. It is OK to show feelings and to feel overwhelmed by a situation. The design is characterised by its flexibility in everyday school life. The design allows the school to serve a large area and number of people with just a few modules. Not every class has the same need for furniture. This means that each school year it can be decided where the need is greatest and the modules can be redistributed.
