The efficiency of combine harvesters can currently only be increased slightly due to size limitations. My final thesis responds to this with the design of a compact and cooperative swarm combine harvester. Each vehicle is equipped with a cutterbar and can pass the harvested grain to the neighboring vehicle. This enables a 400 percent increase in efficiency over conventional combines. Each unit can fold and store its cutterbar onto the roof of the vehicle in a compact way, making transport and storage of the swarm combine easy and cost-effective. The vehicle body was designed with four identical panels on both sides, made of trapezoidally folded aluminum parts, to meet the requirement for minimal use of materials and good manufacturability at the same time.
