Description

To reduce deforestation, keep supply chains as short as possible, and minimise the production of materials, this project seeks to simplify the use of waste and off-cut panels for serial furniture production. To that end, a digital system was developed which enables the handling of different board thicknesses and formats. The exemplary piece of furniture was not designed in 3D, but programmed with the help of Rhino-Grasshopper. The resulting parametrics make it possible to adapt the individual furniture parts to each other, depending on panel thickness. A modified nesting algorithm also allows for the use of non-rectangular remnant panels.
