Description

Drowning is one of the most common causes of accidental death worldwide, particularly in unsupervised waters. Crucial minutes often pass before a person is detected and can be rescued. The aim of this project was to shorten this critical period through the use of an autonomous water drone for water rescue.

Sensors in a stationary monitoring unit continuously observe the water area and detect potential emergencies by analysing movement data using artificial intelligence. If an emergency is detected, the drone launches automatically and navigates independently to the person in distress.

Once on site, it locates the person in the water, stabilises their position and keeps their airways above the surface. The person is then transported in a controlled manner to a designated transfer point on the shore, where rescue personnel can take over.
