The bachelor thesis “Between us the years” examines the transgenerational transmission of war experiences and the question of how memories, attitudes, and relationship patterns continue to have an effect across generations, even if they are not consciously remembered or told. The focus is not on historical events, but on their impact on family and social relationships in the present.
The aim of the work is to convey these after-effects of war and make them tangible. For this purpose, an interactive digital application and an analogue dialogue and card game were developed. Both formats address the same questions and enable different approaches to the topic.
Methodologically, the work is based on research into memory, generational relationships, and transgenerational transmission. The creative implementation uses interaction, movement, and open impulses to make memory tangible as a social and process-oriented occurrence.
