Description

Contemporary attitudes to death, mourning and burial are characterised by social change, expressed in funeral culture through pluralism and individuality, and are also in a state of flux. The answer in a highly industrialised and digital society is to see the urn as a singular object to satisfy the need for individuality in the process. The urn is the final form in which the characteristics, passions and life of the deceased are projected. The work aims at a contemporary interpretation of the archetypal vessel. Since time immemorial, the processing of the raw material clay and its firing in the open fire has been a constant companion of mankind, our history and our development. The manual production and the archaic firing process of smoke firing create unique pieces that cannot be reproduced.
