Description
Water scarcity is one of the most pressing global challenges. The bachelor’s project “Water from Air” addresses exactly this: with a mobile, decentralized water generator and storage system. The goal is to create a sustainable and everyday solution for local self-sufficiency with drinking water, independent of geographical and social conditions.
Inspired by permaculture, the system uses air humidity as a resource. With the help of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), the material absorbs moisture in a self-sufficient, closed cycle and releases it as drinking water through heating and condensation – currently up to 6 liters per day.
The design convinces through clear functionality and consistency. Thanks to the modular construction made of single-variety, recyclable plastic filament, the system is long-lasting, repairable, and conserves valuable resources along the entire life cycle.
