On 24 February 2022, Russia launched its war of aggression against Ukraine. The war continues to this day, with profound consequences for millions of people. This work focuses on the question of how war feels from an individual perspective, particularly on the day of the invasion and during flight.
Personal stories of Ukrainian refugees document decisions, losses, and the objects they carried with them into the unknown: a perfume, an ID card, a photo. These objects serve as carriers of memory, identity, and hope.
Presented as a documentary-journalistic newspaper, the format combines emotional narratives with infographics and cartographic elements such as escape routes and reasons for fleeing.
The result is a visual plea for empathy and differentiation in the social discourse on flight, deliberately designed with restraint to create space for closeness, reflection, and resonance.
