Usaer is a concept for empowering civilians to safely and efficiently search for and rescue victims buried under rubble. Civilian first responders, previously unprepared for disasters, are equipped with the necessary tools physically and knowledge-sharing digitally. They will be able to locate people under debris, rescue them and provide them with first aid. They are protected during this complex and dangerous activity by means of helmets, gloves and high-visibility waistcoats, to stop them from becoming victims themselves. This is the focus of the project. An internationally applicable, repairable, contextually adaptable and easy-to-use helmet that includes a bag with tools. The helmet is foldable and thus logistically efficient. The symbolic character can be understood internationally as a protective element, by characterizing insect or animal armour.
