Description

Over the past 120 years, theatre has faced declining recognition and relevance. Extensive research has revealed why certain groups don't go to the theatre regularly. Potential enthusiasts often express a strong desire to attend but lack a companion, deterring them from visiting and decreasing attendance. To address this issue, an app with a meeting feature has been developed. The preferences of the target group led to the identification of certain requirements: Groups were favoured over pairs to prevent dating connotations and to lessen the risk of being left alone if a companion cancelled. The entertainment factor is also heightened in a group setting. Additionally, participants expressed a preference for reviewing key participant information before meet-ups in order to create transparency and reduce uncertainty. The goal is to reinvigorate theatre by fostering a sense of community, bridging the gap between potential theatregoers and performances.
