Description

This bachelor’s thesis presents a spatial and product concept for educational institutions. At its core is an accessible sewing machine. Its semi-transparent casing reveals the internal mechanisms, which are organised by modules and usage, following a colour code. This promotes better understanding and intuitive use. The focus is on helping users understand the sewing machine’s functions and reducing anxiety about its inner workings.

The machine is accompanied by a manual and a poster. This encourages users to engage more deeply with the machine and helps prevent frustration. The concept is embedded in an ergonomically designed space within an educational setting. In this way, the sewing machine contributes to reintegrating handicraft into the classroom and promotes its positive effects, such as creative problem-solving, cognitive skills, and a practical understanding of technology.
