Su(n)spend

Description

‘Su(n)spend’, is an interactive luminaire that brings the sunlight indoors. Suspended between floor and ceiling, the luminaire is interlinked by slim belts. As users pull these belts, similar to the interaction of adjusting a blinds cord, ‘Su(n)spend’s’ light vertically ascends towards the ceiling or descends back down. As the light moves, it transitions through a spectrum of colors, mirroring the sky‘s hues. Gradually fading from bright whites at its highest point, to warm, subdued tones at the lowest. ‘Su(n)spend’ is strategically placed in front of a window. A solar cell, positioned on the luminaire‘s back, ensures a self-sufficient power source, reinforcing the tangible connection to nature and technology. The endless loop of ‘Su(n)spend‘s’ belt is a symbolic representation of the perpetual solar cycle, offering a tactile and emotional experience through the dynamic response to the sun‘s journey and the profound connection of light and space.
