Grief and Transformation
Description
The project provides an objective response to the (research and experience) need for the integration of mourning into modern society. The mourning community plays a special role in my work; although it has healing potential, today its members often live far apart. The starting point of my design is the grave light, a common light ritual. Glass as a material should do justice to the feeling of a transcendent connection to the deceased. The glasses can be selected together according to the nature of the dead person. The beginning of the interaction takes place at the mourning ceremony. From here, the elements disperse with the mourners and find their place as an object in their homes. Over time, they are brought back on special days of mourning or to a place accessible to all and gradually form a glass stacking game as a silent communication from the living, a transparent connection to the dead, and an expression of mourning.
