Skateboarding in public is controversial – and while purpose-built skateparks are becoming increasingly popular, we should not forget that skateboarding can take place anywhere in the city without the need for a designated space. Spoddit are objects that offer many opportunities to improve or even create places to skate in public spaces in an uncomplicated and spontaneous way. They are benches that can be used for both sitting and skating. They are modular, so they can be arranged and adapted in different ways. The mobility of the benches is also modular and adjustable. Unloaded, they are easy to move and transport. Weighted down, they have a firm and safe stand. Let’s start using our public spaces more diversely and make our cities more skate-friendly.
