Description

snak is a folding stool for the space in front of your own front door. Hung up in the hallway and spontaneously taken along, it creates a place for a break, a stay and a short linger.

It utilizes the transition between private and public space and makes it tangible as a place to spend time. As a lightweight, mobile seating furniture, snak enables consumption-free moments in the immediate living environment and opens up casual encounters with neighbors.

The starting point of the concept is the observation of Danish cities, where benches in front of front doors are a natural part of the cityscape. These benches mark the threshold between private and public space and create low-threshold places for lingering, exchange and neighborly closeness.

As an extension of the living space into the urban space, they promote social interaction in everyday life and strengthen community. snak transfers these spatial and social qualities into living contexts where such places have been lacking so far.
