What does a productive approach to one’s own insecurities look like, and with which techniques and strategies do people attempt to confront worries and doubts in order to take action for the sake of security?
Following this question, the project takes a look at the prepper subculture as a specific form of crisis preparedness and a perspective on self-empowerment.
Confrontation with the images, self-conceptions, values and norms propagated in prepping leads into a field of tension between security and vulnerability, raising questions about what constitutes security in its material and temporal dimensions, how narratives of the future create realities, and which aesthetics they bring with them.

Reflecting on these moments through design, a warming power station that brings light into the darkness, a supporting rope and a portable water collector have been created.
