Description
The Pick and Mix colour archive shows the design potential of natural dye extracts on cellulose-based regenerated fibres.
Through experiments and test series, the mordanting and dyeing process was adapted to the requirements of the respective dyes. With only four dyes from reseda, blue wood, cochineal and madder, colour mixtures were created that move away from the familiar colour narratives of natural dyes in order to make their use more interesting for many designers.
The presentation in the form of trading cards makes it possible to pass on forecasts on the authenticity of each colour shade as well as descriptions of the staining process, dyeing procedure and after-treatment. Furthermore, the form of 2-to-2 can invite a playful and thus easier approach to a complex subject.
Six woven pieces complement the archive and can be understood as an investigation of colour mixtures.
