Women’s sports equipment has traditionally been designed according to male standards, often overlooking the anatomical diversity and specific needs of female bodies. This becomes especially evident in contact sports, where existing chest protectors are frequently uncomfortable, restrictive and poorly adapted to different breast shapes and sizes.
This Final Degree Project addresses this inequality through the development of a personalised chest protector for women using a parametric design approach in Grasshopper and produced through 3D printing. Adjustable parameters allow the protector to adapt to different body types, breast sizes and asymmetries, creating a more inclusive and anatomy-driven solution.
The design consists of a separate chest protector worn inside a sports bra, allowing users to combine proper support, comfort, freedom of movement and effective impact protection, particularly for sports such as boxing. The project supports more inclusive sports equipment for women.
