The final project “The Adventure ABC” shows the design and illustrative concept of a multifunctional activity book for primary school children. For the presentation and as a dummy of the master’s thesis, the “Spring” folder was developed in a slipcase. At the same time, a concept for all four seasons is presented.
The book concept combines experiencing nature, creativity, and playful learning. Each letter appears as a removable leporello with two activities, which are introduced by illustrated double pages and short stories with three protagonists. The concept is complemented by a sketchbook for observations and own ideas.
The flexible design enables mobile and non-linear reading for indoors and outdoors. The accessible font Lexend Regular supports easy access. The analogue illustration style with Polychromos colored pencils appears calm, detailed, and open to own interpretations.
