Pelican
Street light with low Light Pollution
Description
Northern Germany is known for the sea and windy days. The shape of the street lantern should be associated with the north or the sea. Additionally, the luminaire creates much less light pollution due to its special shape. The name “Pelican” evolved through the external appearance of the lantern and its proximity to the coast. Counter-rotating wind turbines catch wind from different directions and at different strengths, effectively charging the integrated battery that powers the lantern throughout the night. To increase efficiency, the wind turbines are freestanding, mounted directly to the mast to prevent negative flow effects from a surrounding enclosure.
