Description

Microplastic pollution has created a global health risk. The plastic particles enter the food chain through the water cycle. Plastic textile fibres from washing machine wastewater account for the largest share of microplastic pollution. The challenge is to find a hygienic, user-friendly solution that does not require disposable parts and can be retrofitted to existing filterless washing machines. At the same time, it must be compatible with the pump capacity of the washing machines and function without clogging, so particularly low maintenance. “mo” is a centrifuge that filters microparticles from washing machine wastewater. When mo is connected to the washing machine, the water is pre-cleaned before it enters the sewage system. The filtrate is pressed after each wash cycle and collected in a compartment so that users can dispose of it in the household trash without touching it. mo is a consumer-friendly and clean solution that helps to reduce the impact of textile fibres on the environment.
