Description
Masyl is a “growing piece of furniture” made of wood and mycelium. It was also designed as a stool for children and, over time, grows into a table through mycelium in the mortise and tenon joint.
In the process, the furniture is reinforced and unified in accordance with the child’s growth. The structure, in which wood as an outer framework carries the shape and initial stability and the mycelium successively fills the interior, increases the resistance to pressure and bending. This hybrid construction creates a technical symbiosis in which both materials complement each other functionally and aesthetically.
By replicating the symbiotic relationship between wood and fungi, Masyl shows new forms of interplay between human and nature, material and structure.
