The project ‘Edging Fashion’ explores the intersection of fashion and costume design. Initially, a costume design was created for the play Edging Faust at UNI.T Theater Berlin (2024). This experience served as a field study and foundation for a subsequent fashion collection. The project questions how context influences the meaning of clothing: a garment becomes a costume on stage, and fashion becomes a performance on the runway.
Close collaboration with the young actors and their individual role interpretations significantly shaped the designs. Fashion is understood as a form of persona, enabling identity to be shaped and communicated in various social contexts – similar to a costume on stage.
