This work deals with the recycling of textile waste in Germany. During the research, the problem of incorrect disposal of recyclable textiles in residual waste was found. Through experiments and the use of analogies, an object for collecting recyclable textile waste was designed – in addition to the collection function, the design is also intended to create a discourse on the handling of textile waste.

Formally, the design resembles a clothes hanger to suggest the understanding of storing textiles. Hanging it between clean clothes in the wardrobe prevents the collection of contaminated textiles.

Impaling textiles with the needle is a translation of the former profession of ragpickers into today’s context. Ragpickers often used tools with sharp points to pick up rags from the street for paper production.

The object is supplemented with brief instructions in the form of relief-like pictograms – analogous to washing and care instructions in clothing.
