Description

Human veins are responsible for transporting oxygen-poor blood back to the heart. In people with chronic venous insufficiency, the veins are damaged and only able to do this to a limited extent, which is why they are dependent on the support of compression stockings – often for the rest of their lives. However, in many cases, willingness to wear the compression stockings regularly is low. "Lotus" creates positive experiences in the context of compression therapy in order to motivate regular wear through the interaction of three elements: intelligent compression stockings, fountain artefact and a mobile app. Lotus complements compression therapy with specific explanations, accompanies those affected on a daily basis, and builds a community among peers. Patient education is an experience through Lotus, where putting on and taking off the compression stockings is transformed into a ritual and wearing them becomes normal.
