Description

Leathercoding refers to a new approach to working with leather. Using modern technologies such as CAD, CNC, and CAM, a series of tests serves as a pioneer for future leather products and for the future handling of leather in an industrial context.
The material itself, its appreciation, processing, and history are key elements for an alternative and more modern approach in manufacturing, distribution, and for consumers. Aspects such as haptics, patina, and sustainability determine the appropriate method for targeted processing. Finally, a selected method is presented, a concept is developed for it, and the resulting Leathercode_Cushion is introduced as an exemplary ambassador. Leathercoding is presented as a suitable approach for leather processing. The focus is on spreading the idea itself and encouraging a shift in thinking among producers, buyers, and users of leather and leather products.
