Description
"Journey through Jerusalem" is an individual CNC-tufted carpet based on GPS data I collected during my stay abroad in Jerusalem. Over 2.8 million data points represent my daily movements within the city from December 2019 to January 2020. I filtered the raw data and identified hot spots, such as the place where I lived, the university, or favorite locations, and translated them parametrically into a pattern.
The carpet is representative for my thesis about individualized design objects, which could make our fast-fashion society obsolete, since we identify more with them and build up a strong emotional connection. The theorem is based on the technological possibilities of Industry 4.0 and implements the possibility of a change in consciousness regarding sustainable product production and consumption.
