Description

How do we want to design in the future? In today's world, resources are ubiquitous. At the same time, we face complex relationships between resource scarcity and consumption. Nutshells are considered waste materials of the food industry. Yet they account for about 30% to 40% of nuts. "In a Nutshell" demonstrates new approaches to material development from biological materials and new potential for research and design. The project includes processes, procedures and the development of bio-based and temporary material composites from peanut, hazelnut and walnut shells. They form the foundation of the material study, potential application areas and circular design. The research results, which are open source, offer new opportunities for future development of more sustainable circularity and product design.
