Description
Fashion is often reduced to a decorative or consumer-oriented sense. This perspective falls short, because for me, fashion is an independent art form and at the same time a transcultural medium of social communication. Through the use of a visual vocabulary, it creates meaning, makes identity visible and opens up spaces for social reflection. At the center of my work is the confrontation with violence and its dehumanizing effect on humans. Visual, psychological and physical forms of violence as well as their translation into design forms of expression are examined. Materiality, construction and silhouette serve as carriers of meaning: hard structures, layering and restrictions refer to power, control, vulnerability. The work moves in the field of tension between aesthetics, ethics and social sustainability. Fashion becomes a medium of reflection and resistance.
