Description
When talking about insect decline, the discourse often revolves around the honeybee, because it does valuable work for humans. However, other insects are often forgotten. The main role in "Habiton" is being played by solitary bees, which can be seen as the starting point for the settlement of a variety of insects. The needs of the individual species were elevated to the central design element and translated into an easy-to-install and low-maintenance system. 3D-printed ceramic modules serve as outer shells that can be optimally adapted to the nesting needs of wild bees by using different filling materials. "Habiton", even in its smallest unit as a single module, offers the possibility of forming area-spanning structures. In addition, it can be expanded as needed to promote resilient species communities. Ultimately, this also benefits humans as part of the global ecosystem.
