Gärtnerstraße - Einfach Wohnen!

Description

As living space becomes increasingly scarce and expensive, and complex legal regulations complicate the construction process while driving up costs for owners and tenants, my task was to design a residential quarter that is as cost-effective and sustainable as possible, providing residents with attractive and affordable housing.

The site for this quarter is the former premises of the municipal parks department on Gärtnerstraße in Trier-Nord. The 12,000 sqm plot borders the Nordfriedhof cemetery, the Moselstadion stadium, a row house settlement and the heavily trafficked Paulinstraße. In addition, 4,000 sqm from two relocated stonemasonry businesses are available. A listed single-storey building along Nalbachstraße must be preserved and integrated into the overall concept, as well as the greenhouses located in the centre of the property.
