Description
Glass and metal are two very different materials — but how can they be combined in design?
This question guided my work, with a focus on their ability to be shaped by heat, especially through the casting process.
Casting allows glass and metal to be formed into a wide variety of shapes. Sharp edges as well as vibrant and translucent surfaces can also be achieved.
These properties were deliberately integrated into the design process to explore how the materials can be shaped in unconventional ways.
The result is an artistic object with a consciously minimal design. It features clear contours and precise edges. These emphasise the design possibilities of the materials, bring calm and clarity to the structured surface, and remain visually engaging by balancing both materials harmoniously.
