Description

fensterGRÜN is supposed to enable existing architectural structures, to add on its skin, beneficial functions for the entire surrounding city. Holding rainwater back after an extreme weather event and the usage of this rainwater is taking pressure off the sewerage system. It supplies a cooling effect for the compacted urban space. Simultaneously it is creating a bridge to connect different biotopes throughout the city. The structure is designed in a modular, repair-friendly manner and built in part of regenerative resources, through this regional and circular production is encouraged. fensterGRÜN is minimally invasive to the existing facade, by connecting to the wall of the window frame of the common hole facade, which also discards the use of any additional cranes for the installation. Local craftsmen are able to install the modules after training. The coexisting public and private spaces are connected by opening the space and caring for the plants.
