Design of a System for the Construction of Buildings Using the Additive Manufacturing Method
A.M.S.3D (Additive Manufacturing System 3D)
Description
The question of affordable housing does not only arise in Germany, but affects the entire world. Due to a high demand for real estate caused by factors such as urbanization, rising energy and raw material costs and a steady decline in social housing, the rental and purchase prices for real estate in Germany have risen sharply. An estimated 1.8 billion people worldwide do not have adequate housing. This number could increase to 3 billion by 2030 [UNhabitat (2022): Housing Rights]. The A.M.S.3D combines 3D printing technology with the construction industry to produce prefabricated components from printable clay. The advantages are faster, cheaper and above all sustainable construction methods to counteract the global housing shortage. The printing system, which operates with the FDM method, can print wall elements. These are finally assembled using a plug-in system to form a finished shell.
