Zeitgenössische Interpretationen eines traditionellen Motives
Description
The master’s project focuses on the cypress — a symbol deeply rooted in Iranian culture, representing freedom, life, and immortality. Inspired by its many representations in Persian carpets, the project combines Eastern ornamentation with Western minimalism.
This fusion of two design worlds creates a cultural synthesis that, through jewellery, offers new perspectives on origin, identity, and transformation. Double-sided pendants, clips, and lockets tell the story of dialogue between cultures. The wearer decides which side to reveal — what is shown or kept hidden.
In the series ‘What Remains’, the cypress appears only in fragments: a silent yet present reminder of one’s roots. The locket becomes a personal place of preservation. The project serves as an acknowledgment of origin and an expression of belonging within a new cultural context.
