Today, the driver’s cab is mostly viewed as potential for savings and is often only designed under the normative requirements of a workplace. As a result, the interior is not optimally utilized and valuable capacities in the train are lost. This work pursues the goal of no longer viewing the driver’s cab solely as a workplace. It is intended to encourage stakeholders in the railway industry to demand flexible and efficient solutions in tenders that can react to the increase in passenger capacities and the development towards driverless operation. The work was formulated in detail in a 3D model and visualized using renderings. The result is the concept of a driver’s cab that can be used for manual driving operation and at the same time can be adapted to the development stages of automated operation. In addition, unused driver’s cabs can be converted into further passenger space, which enormously increases interior capacities.
