Description

The bachelor’s thesis deals with current problems in the coffee industry and aims to raise awareness among consumers in consuming countries regarding the challenges faced by coffee farmers and workers.

For this purpose, information is visualized in the form of tableware used in cafes. Based on a survey, theoretical works on aesthetic perception, and the book “Envisioning Information” by Edward R. Tufte, two-dimensionally designed information is transferred into three-dimensional objects. As a result, consumers come into direct contact with the content while consuming coffee. The design is intended to be provocative, yet at the same time subtle and visually appealing.

The result is a collection of tableware that combines function, aesthetics, and information visualization. The project is conceived as speculative and demonstrates the design potential of shape, color, typography, and ceramics as information carriers.
